"WHERE. WHO, AND WHAT WERE THEY WEARING?!"
NYFW brought a lot of new changes along with some new trends. Reflecting on the two week Fashion extravaganza it was a lot of things that we loved and a lot that we hated, starting with Location!

Location, location location!
As the fashion community descended upon New York, spreading stylish cheer, with highly anticipated presentations from New York's hottest Designers. Fashion week and New York has had a long love/hate relationship but it’s the kind of love one fights for because well, it’s worth it. Gone are the days of the Bryant Park tents and the Lincoln Center grounds.
The chicest city event has new support and a new home. Mercedes Benz, IMG’s (producer and marketer of global fashion week events) long-standing title sponsor, pulled their support of NYFW. No longer taking place at The Lincoln Center, Skylight Group has taken over with their two prime locations Skylight Clarkson Square at 558 Washington Street in Tribeca and Skylight Moynihan Station at 360 West 33rd Street, in Midtown. Don't forget MADE Fashion week took place at Milk Studios- The Standard Highline 449 West 14th Street and at 450 West 15th Street.
With how much chaos goes on in the city on an average day, traveling on a NYFW day is even worst! Unless you had a helicopter on speed dial getting around to shows was chaotic! Hated how everything was so scattered over the city but loved the buildings interior of skylight venues along with stage designs.

Actress Micaela Verrelien (@micaelaverrelien) was also in attendance and shared her experience: “My favorite thing about NYFW is the fashion, and being able to view the creativity of the designers and how they chose to display their clothes. Every designer had their own touch on the run way aside from the fashion. The introduction and the ending of each show are important and of course the music. All of these things although are small pieces to the show, but they set the tone for the entire show. The shows that I was fortunate enough to attend were all great but my favorite was Desigual. They had an amazing collection and a great intro and ending to their show.”
When it comes to parts we would rather do without: “I don't like that shows start late. A late start to a show means a late ending. With many shows on our agenda and all shows not being in the same building it does not leave much time to get to one place to the next.”

"Real Fashion Statements"
Matey Ghoslow (@photomgp), who was a photographer that uses his blogging platform to showcase activities that are taking place in his community had his views. “What l loved about NYFW were the different Street style that were presented. Loved the location where it was held. Also the recognition of bloggers within our community. I didn't like the fact that there were not that many small business vendors.” Perhaps next year many more black businesses will be more of a presence in order to make more business connections?

But for some people they got exactly what they wanted out of NYFW, one of them being Karina Hill (@beenalabella_style), a stylist, marketing consultant and creative ambassador. “For Fashion Week 2016, I attended the 3rd Annual ESSENCE Street Style Block Party and it was an awesome experience. I loved networking with so many style-setters and I received exposure based on my personal style as well. I can honestly say I had no complaints about this year’s block party. I arrived early enough to visit all the vendors and still get some snapshots of other stylish wonders.” To see all the fun Karina had check out her social media. Guess the saying really is true, no pain, no gain.
"Haute or Haux?"
With the competition being stiff to stand out these days we see that Designers tried any and everything to stand out, from "Hood By Air" walk this and that way boots to "Yeezy's" inspired by spanex and line.
Drop us a line on Facebook and share which designers you’re liked, loved or hated.
Until next time, stay chic my friends!
