We are a colorful people! So it’s only fitting that we live life in living color right? Nothing makes a bolder statement than a colorful lip, and who does it better than brown women? So let’s get to it! I’m dropping a few shades that you simply must try this Summer! And I threw a nude in there too, just for my ladies who may want to play it safe.
Scared to try color? The key is in the lip liner! Use a deeper liner with your lipstick to tone it just a bit for your complexion. Some of my faves are Currant, Nightmoth and Magenta, all by MAC Cosmetics.
Maybelline Vivid Liquid Matte in Orange Shot
This fun orangey red is absolutely perfect for Summer! And I don’t think there’s a woman who could look bad in this shade. Everything about it says Summer! The texture of this lippie is awesome too! It’s a Matte Lip Cream, so once it’s on, it stays put. This product doesn’t dry you out like a lot of matte lipsticks can. And the price point makes it that much better!
MAC Cosmetics Lipsticks in Up the Amp and All Fired Up
Up The Amp: Anytime I’m introducing a woman to color, I grab Up The Amp! This soft pinky purple, creates a bold look in a subtle way. The texture is also super creamy, so it feels great on the lips! The color is truly unique too. This is not one of those lipsticks that you can find a similar color in any brand. Every woman should have a tube of this in her repertoire!
All Fired Up: This Matte Lipstick is what I like to call a “Pinky Red.” If you love a red lip as your signature look, this color will switch it up nicely for summer and still keep you in the red lip game.
Bite Beauty Lipstick in Portobello
I love this spin on a nude lip for summer. It’s got a little sunshine in it! This warm brown lipstick has a nice golden undertone to it that I haven’t seen anywhere else! I really love Bite Beauty’s lip products because of the saturation and density of the colors! They go on super smooth and matte down throughout the day. Some may find it a bit expensive, but I assure you it’s worth every penny! They make some really nice glosses too. I’m absolutely obsessed with their glitter glosses! I would definitely go as far as to say, they are my current lippie fave!
