Cuba, My Love

I had been counting down to my 5 day visit to Cuba with "Just Trippin Travelers Club." I didn't know what to expect while exploring the city of Havana. It was truly the experience of a lifetime.
Hues of melanin danced, laughed, and greeted me on every corner of a city that feels like it has its own heartbeat. The people are beautiful and full of joy. The cars are classic. They rev, glide, and shimmy along the Malecon in a rainbow of colors and classic car styles. The aromas of tempting appetizers and hearty plates, made my foodie heart smile. The food was so fresh. So tasty! So affordable! Imagine enjoying a "Surf & Turf" platter that included an entire lobster tail for only 20 bucks? Dining at a tasty buffet with a carving station is a scrumptious delight for only 10 CUC, after a long day of exploring the marvelous city of Havana with friends.
Havana's colorful history and artistic culture checker the landscape of a city dedicated to honoring the past and embracing the future. The Museum of Guabscoa highlighted the mystique of Santorini, as well as introduced little known fraternal associations. Historical icons like Ernest Hemingway are honored with tours, statues, and even a signature drink. The "Hemingway Coctel" is a signature libation that is almost as famous as the "Cuba Libre." Music is everywhere! I enjoyed local restaurant bands, as well as megastar performances by Orishas and salsa rhythms by Lazarito Valdes y Bamboleo. The memories of the rumba echo in my mind like acoustic drum beats.
Exploring the "Undiscovered Caribbean" helped me discover myself. Submersing myself in the blue waters of Varadero Beach was amazing! Cuba, my love, I will be back.
