Knowledge, evolved from a portrait photographer to a substantial artist under the influence of NYC’s thriving art scene, releasing six sociologically provoking collections of artwork. Knowledge’s collections illustrate popular figures and events in America while adding color to under lying conversations about them. “Appropriation works best when seeking to draw a particular audience in,” Knowledge Bennett notes about his style of artwork.

In his latest collection Orange is the New Black, audience includes both the minority sector and the majority. The underlying conversation is turned to US government’s historically unfair treatment of the Black American community and the corruption of power, illustrated through an array of juxtaposed images such as Malcolm X, Richard Nixon and historical newspaper clippings Time magazine’s “Reagan Knew Everything”, The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment and Abner Louima.

To finish with a grandiose of appropriation Knowledge used the colors orange and black. The orange and black colored array emphasized a realistic and historical perspective in contradiction to the fictional mainstream TV show titled “Orange is the New Black.” International Artist Knowledge currently is traveling across the country showcasing Orange is The New Black;implicitly dropping "knowledge" about popular events, figures, and historic context as soon as the silk screen printed canvas hit the art show room walls!
