TXTURE Magazine presents:

Art Basel 2016 was many great things... Black Culture magic everywhere!

This year TXTURE MAGAZINE got the opportunity to showcase amazing artists in a edgy gallery layout at Art and Sol studios in Wynwood, Miami. Our theme this year was BASQUIAT Re-Appropriated!

The event started off with African drummers & stilt walkers from The Dundu Dole Urban African Ballet; they were positioned outside to greet the attendees as they entered the "Art Factory".

Once guest entered they toured the artist booths set up in their own various stations to fit their personal aesthetics. The first artist station was a lounge set up with visual artist Corey Deshon.

Corey's tribute to Jean-Michel featured images of models hand painted by Deshon himself. After painting his subjects, he has them lay in a pool of water and captures images as the paint dissolves... a technique he has perfected to give his art a POV from a photographers perspective.

The next station featured Jovan Stroop. He gave us a Hip Hop basement party feel with his

"BASQUIAT Bucks" photo booth & his TXTURE Magazine curated pieces. Creating a visual and physical experience for guest through his art.

Not only did Jovan create special pieces for the TXTURE Magazine event, he also commissioned a piece for Txture's official sponsor ORS Hair care, in celebration of their statement campaign "No Sterotypes"!

This campaign speaks to the truth of personal image & personal acceptance.
